The “heart” of anything sets the tempo or pace … it doesn’t matter if it is the heart beating inside our chest or the “heart” of an organization or mission. The way we think and feel about something determines whether we are passionate about it. We become excited and this excitement fills our heart with more desire and increases the beat or tempo. As long as we are encouraged and motivated, the beat is strong and rhythmic and we keep moving forward.
Yet there are times when we may feel like we are getting no where or like the spark of passion is gone. Sometimes it’s just a lull in the positive feeling we have for our purpose or the task at hand. We try to keep our head up and a smile on our face and go through the motions even though we’re not feeling the connection. We have lost confidence and our heart is just not in “it” at the moment.
As with a car, sometimes a “jump start” is necessary. I big burst or infusion of energy to lift our thoughts and provide some level of trust and confidence in the direction, the purpose, or one’s self. This infusion of energy gives us the momentum to take the next step, or the next few steps, and we can pull those positive thoughts back around and re-ignite the passion.
Could it be our thoughts of doubt are allowing the lack of passion to grow and take over our thinking? Are we handing control of our desire to a negative thought process? When we feed the negativity, we give it more fuel and more power. This is when we should be giving ourselves, our projects, our dreams an infusion of positive, “reach for it” energy.
But you know, just like that car with the low battery … we often can’t do it for ourselves. We need someone to come along side, hook up the jumper cables and use the energy from their reserves to “jump start” us. We need someone to provide encouragement, maybe even someone to lift us up and hold us for a bit. We cannot and should not expect to always be able to do this for ourselves. You see, we often spend our own energy helping and encouraging others and our reserves run low.
We need a safe place to park and be among friends and re-charge our batteries, our passion, our desire, our dreams. If you do not feel you have a safe place, start asking the universe to show it to you, to help bring it into being, into your life. I didn’t even know I needed a safe, encouraging space but a few months ago, one was presented to me … a group of women who want to write, who have stories to tell (some fiction, some non-fiction), who nurture each other and each other’s dreams.
Whatever your dreams, there is a safe place for you to watch them materialize and the universe will help you find it. Start thinking about the kind of jump start you need in order to find your passion and breathe life into it … and let your heart carry you forward again.
